Selphyl is the “platelet-rich fibrin matrix” (PRFM) method, known as the “Vampire Facelift” where platelets from your own own blood are extracted and used as dermal filler (a substance injected under the skin to smooth out wrinkles so as to provide a more youthful appearance).
The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform and the number of treatments needed depends on each individual patient, the desired outcome, and the healthcare practitioner’s treatment plan.
As a stand-alone therapy, many physicians recommend a series of one to three injection sessions spaced from four weeks apart for optimal results. The longevity of the results of SELPHYL® treatments vary based on the extent of the procedure, areas treated, and number of sessions.
How does Selphyl PRFM differ from fillers?
Selphyl is autologous; it harnesses the power of platelets naturally derived from your blood. Selphyl PRFM does not contain any animal or synthetic components, so there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction.
How long does Selphyl PRFM results last?
Although the effects are not permanent, Selphyl offers natural and lasting effects that vary from person to person.
When will I see visible results from Selphyl PRFM?
It can take up to three weeks to see gradual, sustained volume gain.
How long does the Selphyl treatment take to perform?
The entire process is performed in your physician’s office and takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Is there any down time?
No. There have been no known side effects reported to date. Some patients may experience some mild irritation, swelling, bruising, itching, discoloration or tenderness at the injection sites. These are temporary conditions and typically resolve within two days.
Is there discomfort from the procedure?
Selphyl PRFM is a simple, safe, quick and minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Your physician can use a variety of pain management techniques prior to your treatment to ensure your comfort throughout the process. However, you may experience some transient swelling immediately after your treatment.
